About Chronopost

Chronopost is the #1 parcel delivery company in France and a business unit of Geopost, a €15 billion company delivering a total of 2.1 billion parcels worldwide each year.

A growing business for Chronopost is the delivery of medicine, vaccines, and fresh food. In this activity, compliance requires that deliveries be performed under controlled temperatures at all times.

To do so, Chronopost wanted to:

  • Provide a checklist for drivers to check and verify temperatures and equipment conditions before starting their delivery tour.

  • Enhance the reliability of equipment inventory, especially to ensure proper pairing of IoT temperature probes with the Coldtainer (mobile freezer) where they are located.

Challanges

Chronopost’s IT teams tried several solutions, including developing their own apps, but failed to deliver the ease of use required by frontline workers. The requirements from the Operations teams were:

  • For drivers’ checklists: seamlessly integrate the checklist with their existing delivery management mobile app, and provide a versatile solution that is easy to configure so that updates and adjustments can be made and deployed instantly without IT support.

  • For equipment inventory: for each Coldtainer, inventory five unique IDs in less than one minute (the Coldtainer, two IoT probes, and two hubs) with full data reliability, and without requiring user training.

Solutions

WizyVision supported Chronopost in setting up the solution:

  • WizyVision’s no-code App Builder allowed the Operations team to perform multiple on-site tests until the optimal sequence of steps was defined for each process. Configuration required only a few hours of work, allowing teams to focus on process optimisation.
  • To inventory equipment quickly with full data reliability, WizyVision’s Flow was configured with custom text, barcode, and QR scanners to capture IDs instantly—even under poor lighting conditions or when labels were damaged.
  • WizyVision’s team enhanced the platform to allow seamless integration with Chronopost’s delivery management app.
  • All collected data are exported to Chronopost’s Looker Studio via Google BigQuery, allowing each team to access inventory data and track checklist completion metrics.

Results

The process followed the standard WizyVision procedure:

  • Build a custom app based on customer requirements.
  • Perform on-site tests with pilot users.
  • Adjust the sequence, data capture capabilities, and user guidance.
  • No technical deployment was required, except within Chronopost’s delivery management mobile app, which “calls” WizyVision for the checklist.

Benefits

Chronopost successfully enhanced traceability and compliance by deploying two different apps under the same platform within a few weeks. WizyVision delivered agility, ease of use, and versatility without mobilizing IT resources or Operations teams, as a traditional IT project would have. It also helped optimize the use of Coldtainer assets, since the inventory enabled more preventive maintenance.
